Onko joku asentanut menestyksekkäästi Dual Layer DVD-polttavan G5-koneeseen? Verkkokauppa näyttäisi kauppaavan Lite-On 832S-01C tyyppistä asemaa (178,90 Eur), jonka nopeudet: 8x/4x/8x/4x + 40x/24x/40x.

Reader Comments: I didn't want to play with firmware hacks so bought a real one. It was only 96 euros (incl. 22% tax) and 2 years warranty. Put it into OWC's external FW box.
Worked perfectly with Toast 6.03. After Patchburn II everything looked ok (haven't tried yet).
Now I'm waiting for the Double layer discs which are coming in two weeks with a price tag of 15 euros.
Mike Comments: Toast 6 (6.05 is current version) is supposed to have an update this month to support Dual Layer burners (not sure which models - but the NEC 2510 and Sony DRU-700 are two Dual Layer burner models currently shipping so hopefully both will be supported.)
There's a trick/tip for burning to external drives with iDVD (v2 to v4.0.1 - unless 10.3.4 update broke that) in the FAQ's DVD section. (Not guaranteed to work with all drives but it burned successfully with my OWC FW cased Plextor PX-708A drive when I posted it in the news page a few months ago.)

Apple Store näyttäisi myyvän "LaCie D2 8x DVD±RW Double Layer FireWire Burner with Toast 6 Titanium"- pakettia hintaan 219 euroa, kun Tectorilla samasta saisi maksaa 270 euroa. Aikamoinen hintaero tai sitten unohtivat Applella päivittää hintojaan kun tuon vaihtoehdon laittoivat. Olisiko jollakin jo käyttökokemuksia tuosta asemasta?

Olen laittanut kyseisen laitteen ( LiteOn) G4 1Ghz koneeseen. toimii moitteetta. Ainut ongelma on että ei meinaa mahtua ulos tuosta etuluukusta. tulee juuri ja juuri.
Tuo Lacien polttava maksaa muistaakseni esim tectrorissa 220 eur.
