"Forrest Gump -- Music, Artists and Times," which is being developed by Upstream Multimedia for GTE Entertainment, captures the spirit and wonderment of the movie in a unique interactive musical experience. Select scenes with accompanying music from the movie, background information on artists whose songs appear in the movie, vintage performance clips and a timeline of the era's newsmaking headlines and cultural events provide new depth and perspective to the movie's music and storyline.

The CD-ROM also features exclusive interviews with many of the original artists whose music appear in the film. These intriguing discussions offer insights into the evolution of the songs, personal recollections of the times and the artists' perspectives on how their music was used in the "Forrest Gump" film. The full text of these interviews, movie script and song lyrics add a rich overlay to the title's indepth exploration of the film's musical heritage.

The title is designed to be easy enough for Forrest to use. Simple mouse clicks on intuitive icons take users to entertaining musical clips from the movie and indepth musical explorations of the era's evolution.

Featured artists include former Byrds members David Crosby and Roger McGuinn, Mamas & Papas' Michelle and John Phillips, Ray Manzarek of the Doors, Gary Rossington from Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Rooftop Singers' Eric Darling, Scott Mackenzie, Clarence "Frogman" Henry, Beachboys Brian and Carl Wilson and others. Interviews with "Forrest Gump" musical score writer Allan Sylvestri and music director Joel Sill are also highlighted in the CD-ROM set.

Nels Anderson, head of music business development at GTE Entertainment, noted that "Forrest Gump -- Music, Artists and Times" is a perfect match-up with the company's new TPC music label. "With so much music to choose from, we are limiting the titles we produce to well- known musicians or box office smashes that already have a built-in audience and fan following. Additionally, the titles must have strong visuals and other elements that can be readily translated to the multimedia format," Anderson stated. He noted that the first two titles to debut will be "Forrest Gump -- Music, Artists and Times" and "The Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge Interactive CD-ROM."
