Deb here from the iTunes Store Customer Support. I understand that when you try to update your preinstalled software via the Mac App Store, you are told that the updates are available for another account because you have a used Mac. I can certainly appreciate that you would want to have help with this. I am happy to offer assistance with this.
Thank you for providing the serial number for your used Mac. I have released the Mac applications for that serial number to allow you to download and install updates for the preinstalled software. You will need to sign in to the Mac App Store with your Apple ID and then accept them:
1) Open the App Store application.
2) Click on the Store menu.
3) If you are not signed in to the App Store with your Apple ID, you will see a "Sign In…" option.
4) Click on the Purchased tab.
5) You should see a message "You Have 3 Apps to Accept". Click "Accept" next to the iLife apps (iPhoto/iMovie/Garageband).
If after trying the above steps, you are still unable to update your software, please wait for 24 hours and try again before replying to this email with the following information:
- The exact text of any error messages you see.
I do hope that this information resolves your issue with updating the Mac apps on your used Mac, and that you will continue to enjoy the offerings of Apple. Please don't hesitate to write back in should you require further assistance with this concern. Thank you for contacting iTunes Store Customer Support. I hope that you have a great day!
