Todellakin!
Nyt alkaa jo maailman suurin käytetyn kaman kierrättäjä Ebaykin ottamaan kantaa asioihin. Recalliin kutsuttujen Powerbookien kaupitttelu Ebayssä on tästä lähtien kiellettyä.
Ebay: Attention Sellers:
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that Apple is voluntarily recalling certain battery packs used with PowerBook computers. If the item you are listing for sale is covered by this recall, it is not permitted on eBay. Please refer to the announcement below for details of this recall:
http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PREREL/prhtml04/04201.html
If you list an item that is covered by this recall announcement, your item may be removed and further action may be taken against your account. Please refer to our policy regarding recalled items:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/recalled.html
The below information is directly from eBay’s recall page:
eBay strongly supports the efforts of the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) to protect consumers against potentially hazardous goods. eBay does not permit the listing of items that have been identified by the CPSC as hazardous to consumers and therefore subject to a recall.
eBay urges its sellers and buyers comply with all governmental laws and regulations. Since the sale of recalled items are prohibited by law, regulated, or may cause harm to eBay or its members, sellers may not list them on eBay.
Lisää vettä myllyyn: Greenpeace on ottanut kantaa uuteen MacBook tuoteperheeseen koska GP:n väitteiden mukaan uudet MacBook tietokoneet sisältävät paljon myrkyllisiä kemikaaleja.
...what you also get with a new MacBook is the highest level of another type of toxic flame retardant, tetrabromobisphenol A. Apple claims it is looking for alternatives but for now it appears to be using far more of this toxic chemical than its competitors.
Dr. Kevin Brigden, of the Greenpeace Science Unit, was alarmed by the results: “During the sampling process it was remarkable to note that, whether Mac or PC, once you by-pass the sleek and cool design of these computers, hazardous substances are a component common to all.”
Apple is not the only company under attack by GreenPeace for their environmental record, but apparently HP and Apple laptops contain the highest amount of chemical contamination. The chemical that GreenPeace alleges are in high amounts on the MacBook are described below by Wikipedia:
Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA or TBBP-A) is regarded very poisonous to water-living organisms and very persistent. This flame retardant is mainly used in printed circuit boards.
