Macbook

Hi,

I live in Helsinki and I'm looking for a macbook.The specifications can be quite modest since I only really need it for writing, e-mail and internet. I would like to be able to watch DVDs, but I don't play any games.

The only things that interest me are the following:

- It should have the Apple version of Microsoft Word.
- It should have a camera.
- It should be clean and white (aesthetically pleasing).
- It should be in good condition, so that it lasts as long as possible.

I'm trying to make up my mind as to whether I buy a used macbook or just pay the 1000e (with student discount) for a new one. I'm not sure how long this latest model has been out, so perhaps there isn't anyone selling a used macbook?

I'm afraid I'm not terribly technology-savy, so I can't really be any more specific. If anyone could give me any advice as to whether it's worth forking out for a new one or not, I'd be grateful. The key advantages in a new one are to my mind (a) warranty and (b) aesthetics.

Its not mine, but according seller it is in good condition and goes for 650 euros.
Seller does not mention about Microsoft Word, but considering that 1000 euros budget of yours, you could of course get one for yourself from local store, I believe when you buy Office 2004, you can upgrade it to 2008 also.

Office 2004 can be upgraded to 2008. For example Varimport sells Office 2004 for mac (all versions), which can be upgraded to Office 2008 for only 24,40 euros. Here's the direct link.

The Macbook, which was pointed out by hrmh, isn't the latest model if that was what you were looking for and it's a low-end model. It's 13 months old, but the 650 euro pricetag is quite reasonable so you might want to consider it.
Although, supposedly the OS isn't the newest (OSX 10.5 Leopard) so that will cost another 100 euros to upgrade if needed. Though, Tiger (OSX 10.4) is still a perfectly suitable OS especially because Leopard is still a bit unmature and buggy. You might also want to check if the battery is O.K, since they cost quite a bit (100+ euros).
